Is your house getting older? Are you worried there might be a problem with your foundation? No, you’re not being an alarmist– most homes will at some point need foundation repairs. Here are a few signs to check for:
- Visible Cracks- If you notice visible cracks along the inside or outside walls of your home, this is a pretty clear sign that foundation repairs are needed, especially if the cracks are horizontal or in a stair-step pattern.
- Uneven Floors- If your floors are uneven or sloping, this can be another sign your foundation is in trouble. However, slanted floors can be caused by other issues, too, so check the floors in several rooms, and if the trend continues, call an expert!
- Gaps- Look for gaps between your celling and crown molding, or gaps between your windows and the caulking. If you find some, this is a pretty common indicator that your foundation is settling or sinking and your home needs some foundation repairs.
- Doors are Sticking- Another warning sign to watch out for is if several doors in your home are sticking when they are shut or not opening like they used to. This can be the case with windows, too.
